FAR FROM HOME.

FAR FROM FULLNESS.

I SEE YOUR BEAUTY, YET ALL I HOLD ARE YOUR PIECES.

FRAGMENTS

WHY ARE WE FILLED WITH DARKNESS? WHERE CAN WE BE FREE?

HAVE OUR WINGS MELTED FROM THE SUN, OR HAVE THEY FROZEN FROM THIS COLD?

WE CANNOT

WE CANNOT FLY

WE ARE WAITING FOR THE SPRING. TO TAKE US BACK TO THE SKY. SO THAT WE MAY ONCE AGAIN…

LOOK FROM HEAVENS EYES

“FRACTURED”

CINEMATIC SHORT

“FRACTURED” IS A PROJECT LOCATED ON VARIOUS ICE FLOATS IN SOUTHERN FINLAND. BY USE OF ONLY EARTH, CHARCOAL AND THE SOURCE WATER, A SERIES OF PORTRAITS WERE CREATED ON FRACTURED ICE FLOATS THAT REMAINED FOR ONLY A BRIEF TIME. THE PIECES WERE DOCUMENTED VIA AERIAL DRONE VIDEO, PHOTOGRAPHY AND PHOTOGRAMMETRY AND HOLDS A TACTILE FORM AS LIMITED EDITION PRINTS AS WELL AS IN DIGITAL FORM THROUGH 1/1 NFT’S. THE PROJECT EVOLVED AS A RESPONSE TO THE ONGOING CONFLICT IN UKRAINE, WHICH HAS ONLY FURTHER HIGHLIGHTED THE FRACTURED STATE OF THE WORLD UNTO WHICH WE LIVE. DURING THE PROJECT, THE ICE FRACTURED COMPLETELY UNEXPECTADLY AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES, LEAVING THE ARTIST AT ODDS WHETHER CONTINUING THE WORK WAS EVEN WORTHWHILE. FROM THE GROUND, ONE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO DECIFER ANY SILVER LINING WITHIN THE CHAOS, HOWEVER FROM ABOVE, THE FRAGMENTS HOLD A HARMONY AND BEAUTY THAT IS IMPERCEPTIBLE FROM ANY OTHER PERSPECTIVE. THE WORK OFFERS A MEANS TO POINT THE VIEWER NOT TO DESPAIR AND CHAOS, BUT RATHER QUESTIONS WHERE WE MUST LOOK TO MEND THE BROKEN FRAGMENTS OF OUR LIVED REALITY AND PERHAPS HOW THE FRAGMENTS CAN BE USED TO CREATE AN ENTIRELY NEW MOSAIC FROM THE SCATTERED VESTIGES.

FIRST AUGMENTED REALITY PRINT RELEASE

Since the beginning of this series in nature, I always used video to demonstrate the scale and presence of the work in its broader context. I always struggled to find ways to harmonise the beauty of the final still image and the dynamism of the video captured through the eye of my drone. Often individuals couldn’t wrap their head around the scale and location of the piece and I always found myself having to sift through my phone to show a drone video to better convey the work. I am thrilled that by use of “Augmented Reality” technology, it is now possible to experience the best of both worlds.

By simply downloading the “Artivive App” to your smartphone and pointing your phone at the print, you can now witness your print coming to life as a dynamic drone shot. check out the video below for a quick demonstration.
